Hydrovac in Syracuse, NY — From Someone Who Lives It Every Day
I’ve been running a hydrovac in Syracuse long enough to know I’ve got the best job in the world. Every day’s different. One day I’m working in the heart of downtown, the next I’m out in Baldwinsville, DeWitt, Cicero, Fayetteville, or Skaneateles. And every job’s got its own story.
See, hydro excavation isn’t just about moving dirt. It’s about doing it with precision, care, and a little pride. We use high-pressure water to break up the soil and vacuum excavation—or what I like to call “suction excavation”—to pull it away cleanly. That means we don’t tear into gas lines, bust up water mains, or slice through fiber like old-school digging can.
I’ve seen the damage those other methods cause. Repairs, delays, busted budgets—it’s not worth the risk. With hydro vacuuming and hydrovac work, I can dig right up against buried infrastructure without breaking a sweat or causing a problem.
The best part? I get to work in every kind of spot imaginable. Tight alleys in Manlius. Frozen soil in Clay during February. Big open utility projects in Camillus or Liverpool. My rig handles them all. And when the ground’s frozen solid, I fire up the heated water system and keep going while other crews are parked waiting for spring.
We do more than just dig holes. We daylight utilities, trench for new lines, pothole for inspection crews, and clear space around substations and compression stations. I know every job I finish helps keep this city and its neighbors running.
So yeah, I take it personally. Hydro X USA lets me do work I’m proud of—safe, fast, and cleaner than anyone else in the Syracuse area. Whether I’m in downtown or out in Pompey, I leave every site knowing I gave it my best.
